The Challenge
Spacetalk wanted to bring their app into Expo — a future-proof, modern framework that would set the foundation for long-term growth. At the same time, the business was introducing Spaces, a new way for families to organise groups, manage locations, and stay connected in real time. To achieve this, they needed a partner capable of building a highly interactive, native-feeling frontend that could integrate seamlessly with their internal teams, existing systems, and smart devices. Moonward was engaged exclusively to deliver the **complete frontend rebuild**, working alongside Spacetalk’s internal backend and hardware teams.

Our Approach
Moonward rebuilt the app’s frontend entirely on Expo, creating a future-proof architecture. We designed a Singleton WebSocket system for real-time location updates, chat, and device events, with auto-reconnection, battery-saving background handling, and reliable performance. Features like the Dial Circle, interactive maps, SOS alerts, member and watch management, and local storage strategies were implemented to provide seamless, native experiences for families.

Impact
Today, families can see, track, and communicate with their loved ones in real-time, navigate routes safely, and access SOS alerts instantly — all from one intuitive app. The rebuilt app is more stable, more intuitive, and better equipped to support the company’s expanding global audience. We’re proud to have collaborated with one of Australia’s most trusted safety-first organisations — and even prouder of the frontend experience our team built. The project reaffirmed Moonward’s ability to deliver at ASX-listed scale, working seamlessly with large internal teams on complex, multi-system products.
