Entire product design and development. Fans can now tip you for your content via mobile wallets and contactless cards with nothing more than an iPhone. The only app 100% designed with street performers in mind.

Fewer people carry cash, which means street performers miss out on tips from fans who’d happily give but have nothing in their pocket. Tipper set out to fix that with a contactless tipping kiosk built for buskers. Moonward designed and built a product that’s simple enough to set up in minutes and doesn’t get in the way of the performance. We built an Android app that runs on a tablet next to a Square contactless reader, with four preset tip amounts so fans can tap their card, phone or watch and get on with their day. With Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay and contactless cards all supported, and every tip settling straight into the performer’s Square account, artists can focus on the show while the tips roll in.

Tipper has changed how street performers get paid. Performers using it report 1.7x the tips they’d earn from cash alone, and around 40c of every dollar in tips now comes in by card. Top performers average more than $100 per hour, and one paid show brought in $650 in just 12 minutes. By making tipping as easy as a single tap, Tipper turns passing fans into paying supporters and gives performers a more reliable income from their craft.
