Supporting Mental Health in Construction
MATES in Construction is Australia’s leading industry suicide prevention organisation, dedicated to raising awareness, building capacity, and providing support and research for workers in the construction industry. Recognising the need for accessible, real-time support, MATES partnered with Moonward to create a mobile app and dashboard that would empower workers and support staff to take action when someone is at risk. The goal was clear: build tools that connect people, provide guidance, and ultimately save lives.
High-Stakes, Real-Time Support
Construction workers face unique mental health challenges, and early intervention can make a critical difference. MATES needed a digital solution that could deliver immediate access to support resources, provide guidance for frontline staff, and allow workers to track their wellbeing safely and anonymously. The platform also needed to include administrative tools for coordinators and psychologists to monitor engagement, respond to alerts, and generate insights for research, all while maintaining privacy and security.

Moonward developed a full-stack solution encompassing both a mobile app for workers and a web-based dashboard for coordinators and support staff. The app allows workers to access resources, report concerns, and receive guidance, while the dashboard gives MATES staff real-time visibility over activity, trends, and critical alerts. The design prioritised simplicity, usability, and trust, ensuring users could access help in high-pressure moments without hesitation
